Despair Arc Chapter Fourteen: A Search, A Date, and A Question!

Summary

Having been sealed inside the school for nearly nine months, Junko brings up the possibility that they might run low on supplies and suggests that they begin searching the school to gather supplies. Later, Makoto takes Kyoko to a picnic in the garden on a date.

Tropes

• Boring, but Practical: While Kyoko tells Makoto to hold the vacuum when she runs to the kitchen to grab a knife to cut the cord around Chihiro's foot, Makoto simply turns the vacuum off when he grabs it and unties the cord.
• Enormous Engagement Ring: Subverted. The ring that Makoto uses to propose to Kyoko is made of some stainless steel sheet scraps welded together and painted purple.
• MacGyvering: Chihiro ended up making a vacuum out of a couple of dustcloths in the Gym, a stepladder, and a set of watercolor paints.
• Mythology Gag: Junko suggests the group search for supplies inside of the academy, which is what happens in the non-canon School Mode of the first game.
• What a Drag: Played for Laughs. Chihiro gets dragged around by his own vacuum cleaner when the cord accidently gets wrapped around his foot.
