Recap / Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law S2E10 "Droopy Botox"

Go To

Thanks to Harvey Birdman, Droopy loses a case involving a botched botox procedure. While the law firm enters a new era of prosperity with this win, Harvey feels guilty over it.

Tropes

  • Bait-and-Switch: X rigs Harvey's entire office with booby-traps before Sebben (who's been rendered completely blind from lassic surgery) personally delivers him a massive pile of cash. He somehow manages to navigate all the way to Harvey's desk completely unscathed.
  • Cosmetic Horror: Droopy Dog tries to get a botox injection to help with his iconically droopy-face, but the procedure leaves him with a horrifying perpetual grin for the entire episode. This is the basis for the case he loses at the start of the episode.
  • Old Friend, New Gender: It's not a plot point, but at the end, Harvey walks into Phil Ken Sebben's office to tender his resignation, only to walk in on a surprise party for him. Heading the surprise party? Phil Ken Sebben, who's undergone gender reassignment and become a total bombshell (still with the eyepatch, though). Harvey asks, exasperated, "Do I know you people?" Then she speaks - and it's still Stephen Colbert's voice.
  • Romanticized Abuse: Played for Laughs. After Harvey gets his promotion, Azure Falcone (who's just a bathroom antendant at this point) begs for Harvey to spit on him, seeing a superior give him that kind of attention to be an honor. When Harvey refuses, it's treated as a sign of disrespect and the rest of the law firm chase Azure with torches and pitchforks.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Harvey feels immense guilt over leaving Droopy a deformed, sobbing mess, a problem only compounded with everyone at the law firm praising him for flooding their business with what he perceives as blood money.
