Prologue: The End of Days

In the year 2010, Harry kills Voldemort and wins the war, but everyone else he knows is already dead and every British magical institution has been destroyed. He throws himself into study to stave off depression, and finds a theoretical means to send an object back in time, except that it cannot have any mass. Determined to make a difference, he resolves to send his own soul back to 1991 (killing himself in the process) to try again.

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • America Saves the Day: Downplayed. The U.S. military was able to put Voldemort at a standstill and contain him east of the Atlantic Ocean, but were unable to defeat him outright; Harry has to finish him in person.
  • Bad Future: Harry has at last defeated Voldemort for good, and the rest of the Death Eaters died with him... but Hogwarts has been leveled, all his friends and family are dead, Diagon Alley is gone, and the Death Eaters had been committing purges of the British Isles at such a scale that the US Military had to step in. The devastation had also spread to continental Europe, which was why the US Military stepped in; to keep Voldemort on the east side of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Empathic Environment: The weather in Hogwarts is always raining since the building was sacked, as if the school mourns those who were killed there.
  • Last of His Kind: Harry is introduced in-text as the last remaining member of the Order of the Phoenix.
  • Thanatos Gambit: Harry's Peggy Sue spell is only possible if he severs his soul from his body, something he manages using the Killing Curse on himself. Considering he had only just won a war that had cost him everyone and everything he had ever loved, he might have wound up killing himself anyway.
  • Where It All Began:
    • Harry confronts Voldemort in the ruins of Godric's Hollow close to where their first encounter had been.
    • Harry enacts his spell to send his soul back in time at Privet Drive.
