About as cheerful as this episode gets.

It is not light that we need, but fire.

Waking up to find Trubel, Juliette's body and his mother's head missing, Nick goes after Agent Chavez.

Adalind goes into labour, while the gang learn of a new enemy.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Abandoned Warehouse: Agent Chavez brings Nick to a base disguised as one of these. Unfortunately, someone else found the place first and Nick and Chavez are attacked by Wesen that have already killed everyone else. Chavez is killed in the fight.
  • Borrowed Biometric Bypass: After Chavez dies, her non-FBI phone buzzes. Nick uses her thumb to answer it, and speaks for the first time to Meisner. Nick tells him what happened at the base, and Meisner tells him to keep the phone.
  • Call-Back:
    • Nick is sure Agent Chavez is responsible for taking Trubel, because she abducted her before. The rest of the gang are hearing about this for the first time.
    • Agent Chavez checking whether or not Nick was a Grimm while he was temporarily deGrimmed is brought up as she admits to her superiors that she got it wrong.
  • Character Death: Having decided to "bring [Nick] in," Chavez takes him to a base that turns out to have been attacked; everyone is dead, and the Wesen who did it attack the pair. Chavez is killed in the fight.
  • Heartbroken Badass: Nick is clearly in pieces after the losses he's suffered, which leads the gang to think he's gone off the deep end. Renard even orders him to take time off.
  • Imagine Spot: When he's drugged unconscious, Nick dreams Juliette's funeral, and then coming home alone only to be haunted by the box containing his mother's head. Then he wakes up to find that Juliette's body, Kelly's head and Trubel have all been taken.
  • Improvised Weapon: Nick kills a Gelumcaedus with some rebar.
  • It Was Here, I Swear!: When Nick takes the gang to the warehouse where Chavez died, all the bodies and fight debris are gone. Only a painted-over symbol reveals what's happened.
  • Mistaken For Crazy: Nick's rambling tale of drugging, abduction and theft of corpses does not reassure anyone over his state of mind, and abducting Agent Chavez doesn't help until he proves that she's Wesen.
  • New Baby Episode: Adalind goes into labour, and baby Kelly is born by C-section.
  • Revealing Cover Up:
    • Agent Chavez' refusal to answer if she was involved with Trubel's abduction confirms to Hank that she did it.
    • The painted-over Black Claw symbol is the only proof of a cover-up, and tells the gang it's important. Which may have been Miesner's intention.
  • The Reveal: Agent Chavez is working with Meisner against Black Claw.
  • Shout-Out: The title is from The Bourne Identity.
