Tales of Arcarum: The Tower
The 6th overall entry of the Tales of Arcarum series. The crew was tasked to find and help capture a murderer going loose in a town. However, Lobelia cryptically appears to warn them of the crime's very gruesome nature.
Tropes
- A Day in the Limelight: Lobelia, naturally. Subverted by The Tower, which appears only very briefly, despite having the event title's namesake.
- Birds of a Feather: A darker variation. When Lobelia and the murderer finally meet, they seem to have a mutual respect for each other's "works", much to the MC's disgust. Subverted by the end, as while Lobelia is revealed to be a masochist, the murderer winces at the fact that anyone could have pleasure receiving the pain themselves.
- Ear Ache: The murderer mutilates his victims' body parts all over town, but keeps the ears to himself. Later, his house is described to have his victims' ears hanging all over the place.
- Fate Worse than Death: The murderer is subjected to this by Lobelia as he successfully transfers their consciousness into the realm of The Tower, and have his ears pulled out and regenerated each time. By the time the crew hands over the murderer to the authorities in the real world, he's left a sobbing mess.
- Gory Discretion Shot: Naturally as how the murders and Lobelia's eternal punishment are portrayed.
- Serial Killer: The villain is either this or a Spree Killer, with a penchant for mutilating his victims and collecting their ears.
