Nemone and Melleau received word that their sister has fallen ill and is ordered to return home. Despite already being told about how barbaric Kahua is, the crew tags along with the assumption that their people are more in line with how Nemone and Melleau behaves.
Upon arrival, the crew is relieved yet equally shocked that the village isn't as barbaric as the rumors put it. What even happened during Nemone's and Melleau's departure from the village?

- All for Nothing:
- Subverted with Felluca's training with a kahua taika. While the kahua taika with the closest affinity did get crippled by assassins, the whole training experience allowed Felluca to overcome her fears.
- While the coup itself is successful, it later becomes meaningless once their preferred queen, Melleau, cedes the position to Felluca after seeing how much she changed for the better.
- Amazon Brigade: An exaggerated case with the Kahua consisting of only barbaric women, no men in sight.
- Appeal to Novelty: Subverted. While Felluca states that she's banning the old traditions for the sake of modernization, it's actually because she was attacked by a kahua taika at a young age and her fear seeped into the rest of the traditions.
- Chekhov's Gun: Along the way to the cave, the crew comes across a mataatua, which Felluca already ordered them to be dismantled. On the day of the succession battle, Nemone takes one of them to grab Ku-Keoloewa to the venue.
- Disqualification-Induced Victory: While Melleau won against Felluca for the succession of the crown, she gives it up assuming that she's more likely not fit to be a queen and hoped Felluca would do it better.
- Disguised in Drag: Subverted. Nemone suggests Rackam (and the Captain if the player chooses Gran) to dress up as women to avoid the Kahua's horde of lustful women. The disguises end up being unnecessary once the crew sees how different Kahua is from what they're told.
- Face Your Fears: Felluca is forced to overcome her fears of the kahua taika for the succession battle.
- This Is Gonna Suck: Because he's already aware of the rumors surrounding Kahua, Rackam is reluctant on going to Kahua and braces for the worst when he's forced to come along. If the player chooses Gran as the Captain, one possible option would have him share similar sentiments.
