- Chekhov's Gun: Eunice stabs Duela in the hand with a ballerina figurine. When Carrie gives it to Duela as a memento, she absently puts it into Eunice's music box and unlocks a compartment containing photos of the Court.
- Mythology Gag:
- Detective Green put away Margaret Pye aka Magpie and it's rumored that Catwoman retired to avoid being caught by her.
- Harvey mentions that Oswald Cobblepot (i.e. the Penguin) was once elected mayor of Gotham.
- Obfuscating Disability: Eunice is perfectly capable of walking and uses the wheelchair as part of her act (though it's unclear if she can walk for long periods of time and is entirely faking her disability, or generally needs it to get around but is still capable of standing for long enough to throttle Duela).
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: The Knights got lucky before, but going up against a perp (who happens to be a cop) means Harper gets shot in the arm and it's just a lucky throw from Turner that manages to disarm her.
- Title Drop: Duela tells Carrie that sometimes "you've gotta be bad to get the goods".
- Underestimating Badassery: Duela falls into this, dismissing Eunice as just a crazy old lady until she nearly strangles the younger woman before Carrie stops her.
