Based on The Blob That Ate Everyone, book #55 of the original Goosebumps series.

Zackie buys an old typewriter to write his horror stories on, but things take a terrible turn when one of his stories comes to life as a result.

The episode provides examples of:

  • Abled in the Adaptation: Alex wears glasses in the book. In the episode, she can see just fine without them.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Since there is no Nested Story Reveal and everything in the episode can be taken at face value, is Zackie really a Reality Warper or did the typewriter transfer some type of power onto him? We do see him get zapped by a burst of blue energy when he first touches it.
  • Adaptational Alternate Ending: The episode ends with Zackie thinking the blob monster away, dropping the final chapter's twist.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job:
    • Alex is blonde in the book. Here, she's a redhead.
    • Adam has black hair and hazel eyes in the book. In the episode, he has brown hair and blue eyes.
  • Adaptational Wimp: The Blob grows nowhere near as enormous or eats as many people as the original. Might be explained because it's no longer Wish Fulfilment for a Blob writer.
  • Adapted Out: Per the episode ending with Zackie defeating the blob monster, the author blob from the ending does not appear. Plus, Adam's friends Emmy and Anne are absent.
  • Eaten Alive: Much like in the original book, Adam gets eaten by the titular blob.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: With the last part of the book involving the story revealed to have been created by a blob monster author, this leaves Zack, Alex, and Adam laughing in relief from their adventure.
  • The Little Shop That Wasn't There Yesterday: Mrs. Carter discovers Zackie and Alex rummaging through her ruined shop and gladly gives Zackie the magic typewriter so long as he writes a truly terrifying story on it. As Zackie and Alex leave, they don't look back, so they don't see that Mrs. Carter vanishes behind them.
  • Mouth Cam: Used before the blob eats Adam.
  • Mythology Gag: When coming up with a tagline for his story, Zack tries out Reader beware, you're in for a scare... and promptly rejects it.
  • Technology Marches On: Invoked. Alex points out that Zack already owns a computer. Zack still thinks typewriters are better for writing horror stories.
