Go To

Original air date: 11/4/2021

After Sam locates Pete's wife Carol online, she invites her to the mansion at Pete's insistence, using his old Trooper's manual as bait; Trevor discovers that he might have fathered a child from one of his one-night stands; Thorfinn and Sasappis become obsessed with a reality show, which the former binge-watches without the latter.

Tropes:

  • The '80s: The episode opens on a flashback to 1985, the day Pete got killed by an arrow to the neck.
  • Bile Fascination: In-Universe. Thorfinn and Sasappis get hooked on a ridiculous reality show named It's Getting Hot In Here, where contestants are put on a freezing room wearing concealing winter coats and the temperature is turned up until they take off their clothes. They at first watch it to make fun of it, but soon they get involved, and Sasappis even gets upset when Thorfinn watched the show without him.
  • Dead Guy Junior: Pete died when his daughter Laura was just a little girl. When she had a son, she named him Pete.
  • The Internet Is for Cats: When Sam talks to the ghosts about the internet, Alberta asks, "Ooh, the thing with the cat movies?"
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Carol is invited to the mansion, having remarried Pete's old best friend and announces she has a secret that she wants to finally get off her chest. Sam, Jay, and all the ghosts - except Pete - pick up on the implication and ask her to keep it to herself to spare his feelings.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Carol was having an affair with Pete's best friend when Pete was alive. While Pete is obviously and understandably deeply hurt by this, the show doesn't paint Carol as a villain, either. She's still harboring a lot of guilt for betraying Pete, because she knows he didn't deserve it, and comes to Woodstone partially to get it off her chest and find some form of closure that way. She and Pete's best friend genuinely fell in love, and are still together all these years later, showing that she didn't just betray Pete for a fling. Ultimately, Sam and the others help Pete forgive her.
  • Two-Timing with the Bestie: Pete is initially okay with Carol having remarried, and is even happy to find out her new husband is his best friend. Then he finds out they were together even before he died, and he is furious.
