Melinda finds out her latest ghost is not quite a lost spirit, but rather the soul of a man in a coma, whose family is warring on whether or not to take him off life support.

- Gold Digger: What Hughes’s wife, Lisa is accused of being. It doesn’t help that they got married quickly, that he fell into a coma shortly after the wedding, or that she’s suggesting to take him off life support. It turns out, the accusations are wrong—they got married quickly because they knew their time together was limited because of the disease, and he told her before he went under that if he did, he wouldn’t want to be on life support.
- My Beloved Smother: Hughes’s mom is overprotective because of his illness, and has spent her life caring for him. This bites her back however, when he has a seizure and she gives him muscle relaxants without telling his wife, who knew the doctors had taken him off that certain brand because they would interact with his antidepressants. They did, and that’s how he fell into the coma.
- A Side Order of Romance: Hugh met Lisa when she was a waitress at his favorite diner. That didn’t help her against the Gold Digger accusations.
