Recap / Freshy Kanal "Frodo Baggins vs. Ancient Egyptians"

Go To

"The Egyptians had invented the ring, so he believed. And so he devised a plan. He would bargain the ring back to where it originally, originally came from, in hopes that someone would dare to carry his burden."

Frodo Baggins ends up in Ancient Egypt, where he tries to persuade pharaohs Ramses, Tutankhamun, and Cleopatra to take the ring and relieve him of it. But before hearing any of Frodo's words, the pharaohs demand him to beat them in a rap battle first. However even after he does, they don't want the ring.

Eventually, Frodo dies of exhaution, but the Egyptian god of death Anubis offers to take the ring and give him a chance to live again if he can beat Anubis in a rap battle. Frodo asks for his friend's help, so his best friend Samwise Gamgee take over for him and persuade Anubis to bring Frodo back to life.

This rap battle provides examples of:

  • April Fools' Day: This nonsensical matchup only happens due to being released on April 1st.
  • Back from the Dead: Frodo dies during the video, but Anubis revives him in the end. However, Anubis isn't pleased to hear that Gandalf once came back from the dead too.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: The episode is a story with rap battles in it, rather than just the battle. Frodo also raps against four equal opponents one-by-one, whereas in the previous episodes, rapper only raps against one or two not counting support characters.
  • Medium Blending: Most of the characters are 2D animated, but The Lord of the Rings characters are played by live-action actors.
