Frasier believes that Martin's new boss is bullying him.

- Commonality Connection: When Frasier and Niles decide to complain to Rich in person, but end up cowering in the closet when Martin arrives because he didn't want them fighting his battles, Martin and Rich end up bonding over their meddling children.
- Elder Employee: Martin gets a job as a security guard to add some meaning to his days. His new boss Rich is just as old; in fact, Rich's son owns the security company, loathe as Rich is to treat him like his boss.
- From Bad to Worse: Rich is certainly a massive jerk at first, but he just chews out Martin for rule infractions like leaving his post to adjust a camera or not fastening his top button. Once Frasier’s meddling makes him think Martin has gone over his head and complained, he becomes outright hostile and schedules him for graveyard shifts with no days off.
- Mean Boss: Rich Koechner; when Frasier files an anonymous complaint for how he's been treating the other security guards, he blames Martin and orders him to work the graveyard shift nearly every day the next week.
