Recap / Frasier S 05 E 10 Where Every Bloke Knows Your Name

Go To

Daphne takes Frasier to a British pub in Seattle and Roz joins Martin's poker group.

Tropes:

  • Call-Back: When Daphne explains how important the "Fox & Whistle" is to her Frasier understands, having had a similar relationship with a certain bar in Boston.
  • Cultural Posturing: Daphne resolves the issue of who gets to "keep" the pub by goading Frasier into making derisive comments about Britain in front of the other patrons. When Frasier wins the darts game the others pick him up and throw him out.
  • Limited Social Circle: Frasier is frustrated by the realisation that since he moved back to Seattle he's become reliant on Niles as his only friend, just like when they were children. He tries to branch out by joining Daphne at the pub but eventually goes crawling back to Niles.
  • Local Hangout: The English-themed "Fox & Whistle" that Daphne brings Frasier to. He becomes so attached to the place that he starts ruining it for Daphne. After Frasier agrees to leave he learns that Daphne had actually only been going there for two weeks before she brought him along.
  • One Drink Will Kill the Baby: Martin absentmindedly offers Roz a beer during the poker game. When she refuses the other players all wonder why, which leads to her revealing her pregnancy to them.
  • One of the Guys: Roz, which is why she gets invited to the poker games with Martin and his buddies. As Martin points out "she knows more dirty jokes than Duke".
  • Shout-Out: The episode's title references the theme song to the series' parent show Cheers.
