Frasier and Niles' spontaneous gesture to share a table with two strangers (Lisa Darr, Megan Mullally) leads to a double date followed by a weekend getaway at a mountain cabin.

- Afraid of Needles: Frasier attempts to set an example for his viewers by getting a flu shot on air despite his fear of needles. He chickens out and cuts off the broadcast before the needle goes in, but the medic still gives him the shot anyway.
- Exiled to the Couch: Frasier and Niles end up sleeping in the living room of the cabin after Laura and Beth overhear him making dismissive comments about them.
- Master of the Mixed Message: Subverted once the group reaches the cabin. Frasier and Niles spend the entire evening wondering what Laura and Beth's intentions for the night are. They come up with an elaborate scheme of placing their luggage in the wrong rooms to see how the women "correct" the situation.Frasier: Yes, they've got us into some most veiled, cloaked, cryptic messages. Can't they just give us one clear signal?!
Beth: Well, I'm off to bed. Niles, are you coming?
Niles: (beat) Curse these infernal riddles! - Misplaced Retribution: While it’s clear why both Laura and Beth would be offended by Frasier’s comments about them and why that results in Frasier getting Exiled to the Couch it’s unclear why Beth decides to also direct that same anger towards Niles and punish him as well when he didn’t say anything, let alone agree or condone his brother’s comments.
- Sick Episode: Martin drags Daphne away before she can get her flu shot, so she's naturally angry with him when she catches the flu.
- Special Guest: Lisa Darr and Megan Mullally as Laura and Beth respectively.
