A fish that can breathe on land? How can this be? Foster investigates and finds GUA involvement in terrifying human mutation experiments.
Tropes:
- Body Horror: Esther is mutating into an amphibian, and can't survive for long out of water. She begs Cade to kill her before she can change any more.
- Call-Back: A previous episode's revelation that the Gua plan to enslave humanity is expanded upon; this episode explores an experiment to alter humans so they can work in other environments, such as the ocean.
- Friend to All Children: The first time we see this side of Cade as he bonds with Cody. The episode ends with him taking Cody to his and Esther's aunt to live, now that Esther's dead.
- Mercy Kill: Esther begs Cade to kill her before the mutation can get worse.
- No One Could Survive That!: Cade escapes Colonel Grace by diving into one of the pools where the Gua's test subjects are being held. She's not concerned, as he obviously has to come up for air and they can just wait him out. What she doesn't realise is that this particular pool connects to the lake in Esther and Cody's farm.
