The family attends the school play at Alfred P. Southwick Elementary, where Maureen has won the lead role thanks to Bridget's sabotage. Unfortunately, the event inflames unresolved issues between Frank and Big Bill stemming from Frank starring in the school play when he was ten years old, with disastrous results. Once again in hot water with the family, Frank agrees to go to Mohican's X-ray training in Cleveland despite initally refusing due to Sue being close to her delivery date.

- Calling the Old Man Out: Watching Maureen in the play makes Frank recall the experience of being heckled by his father at his own school play when he was a child. Frank gently mentions this, but Big Bill denies it. Unfortunately, his father's denial starts a chain reaction which causes both men's hot tempers to flare up, exacerbated by the fact that they have been drinking the alcoholic punch provided to the parents at the function. It ultimately escalates to the point where Big Bill goads Frank into hitting him, ruining the whole event.
- I Wished You Were Dead: Angry that Frank got in a fight with his father during Maureen's school play and ruined the event, Sue tells Frank to that she wants him to walk into traffic when he is trying to get into the car. Frank ends up walking home.
