"Bet you never thought of looking here!"
The Eds stumble across the Cul-de-Sac's game of hide n' seek and want in. Though the kids are reluctant at first, they decide to let the Eds join; on one condition. They have to be it.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Art Shift: When Ed is hiding within the Glippo cartoon playing on TV, he is drawn in the style of a 1930s cartoon character, complete with Pie Eyes.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Eds technically win in the end, managing to play hide-and-seek with the kids, find them all, and then successfully avoid Jimmy and make it to the home-free tree. But the tree is destroyed due to them making a dash for it while it is uprooted, and the episode ends with Ed constantly lifting up the debris, only to lose his grip and have it crash down on Double D and Eddy.
  • Cutting the Knot: How do the Eds deal with the tree acting as a home-free? Simple! Uproot the tree and kart it around in a little red wagon!
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: All the kids more or less act their age in this episode compared to later ones, playing a fairly childish game with no problems. In the later episodes, only Jimmy and Sarah could really be seen playing hide and seek willingly.
  • Infrared X-Ray Camera: Double D invents one so the Eds can find the kids more easily.
  • Not-So-Imaginary Friend: When Ed tries to get Plank to reveal himself by saying his mom is calling, he actually does peak his head out of a bush, though this could just by Jonny lifting him.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: The second the Eds step away from the home-free tree, all the Cul-de-Sac kids touch it at once. It also happens with Ed. When Jimmy tries making a run for home base, Ed begins chasing after him. Right as Jimmy makes a dive for the tree, Ed falls down from the branches, with no indicator of how he got up there or passed Jimmy, and lands right on top of him.
  • Ostrich Head Hiding: Rolf's idea of hiding is to stick his head on the ground.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: The Kankers only show up for one brief scene. When looking for a new hiding place, Eddy considers a garbage container, but before leaving due to the smell the Kankers randomly pop out. Eddy is shocked that they are apparently playing too, only for Lee to say they aren't, and all of them make kissy faces at Eddy, with him freaking out and running away with the lid slamming shut on their lips.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: The Eds technically win the game, finding all the kids, and then making it back to home free themselves. But the episode ends with the tree ruined and the Eds having the debris constantly fall on them. Easy to say, they certainly don't feel like winners.
  • Soda Can Shake Up: While hiding in their shelter, Eddy and Double-D get into a soda-spraying fight. Unfortunately, when Ed gets involved using three cans at once, he ends up propelling the shelter into the air.
  • Sore Loser: When the Eds find Sarah in her hiding spot, she exclaims "Darn you, Eddy!" at him. When Ed calls himself "brainless" afterward, she yells "You will be when I'm through with you!" as they leave.
  • Television Portal: Implied. When the Eds hide inside the house, Ed is in an old black-and-white cartoon playing on the TV.
  • The Voiceless: Nazz doesn't speak in this episode. Lee is the only Kanker to talk in the episode.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We don't find out if any of the other Cul-de-Sac kids outside of Jimmy are still playing once the Eds successfully manage to no longer be it.
