A busy but other manageable day is made infinitely worse when it is revealed that two patients have been infected with smallpox. As the hospital is placed under lockdown and the tension rises. Carter, Lewis, and Abby along with the rest of E.R. must rise to the occasion.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Ambulance Chaser: Two lawyers who otherwise couldn't stand each, immediately begin trying to start a class-action lawsuit about the containment.
- Callback: Lewis has to use the old tannoy system to make an announcement.
- The Plague: A smallpox outbreak in the E.R!
