This event contains examples of:

  • Accidental Truth: Mitsuhide tricks Ieyasu and Marishiten along with members of the Halidom into digging up a well for her to hibernate in along with helping the villagers of Aquagi by planting recently made relics and making them look old, all while convincing them all that there is gold and relics of Ieyasu's old ancestor. When the party finds out, most of them are quick to leave. However, Ieyasu reveals that he found a pillbox that Mitsuhide didn't plant and that Marty could tell was over a thousand years old, giving Mitsuhide's forged story more credibility than even she expected.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Ieyasu and Marishiten first arrive in Aquagi, they are surrounded by its inhabitants who at first appear hostile, prompting them to put their guard up and prepare to fight them... then the villagers happily welcome them, catching the two of them off guard.
  • Call-Back: Ieyasu thinks back of when it was his turn to deliver the wyrmclan's blessings that he's learned to loosen up.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Chekhov's DRILL really. Lazry is shown making a mana-operated drill earlier. During the last chapter, it gets used on the final layer of bedrock to good measure.
  • Lazy Bum: Mitsuhide's laziness knows no bounds to the point she gets the villagers to carry her around. She was also using everyone to make essentially a new hole for her to sleep in.
  • The Neutral Zone: The Epilogue shows Aquagi has become such a tourist destination that Halidom and Empire alike can come have a good time.
  • Sequel Hook: Mitsuhide asks Ieyasu if he's going to tell Shingen about this place, hinting he's going to be the Tiger Wyrmclan leader.
  • Shrouded in Myth: A samurai had buried gold in Aquagi in the past, using the story of building a well as a pretense to hide it. Turns out the riches were used to support the mine shaft; the superheated water Ieyasu drilled into washed away the silt that kept it buried for so long. Ieyasu decided the village could keep the riches.
  • The Bus Came Back: Gauld, Marty and Vida all make an appearance here despite being absent from several previous events. Marty in particular is more important than regulars Ranzal and Luca turned out to be.
