Dorothy somehow brings comic book character Space Case to life, then sees that the Dannyzens are being threatened by Torminox.
- Accidental Misnaming: Maura Lee Karupt keeps getting Torminox's name wrong, calling him things like "Tampax" and "Turbotax".
- Ambiguous Situation: Casey seems to have been brought to life by Dorothy's powers but, as Dorothy mentions, her powers don't generally work that way(everything else she brought to life came from her own imagination, whereas Case is a character from a comic book she was reading) and this only occurs after Torminox's minions have attacked. Made even more ambiguous by the fact Torminox was apparently brought to life by The Artist.
- Chekhov's Gunman: Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that The Artist in the end credits is played by the same actor as Wally Sage, a character from the comics who previously appeared as an applicant(and later soldier) for the Bureau of Normalcy that could bring drawings to life.
- Death by Origin Story: Casey's mother sacrificed herself in an effort to stop Casey's father after he became Torminox.
- Joker Immunity: It's mentioned that Casey killed Torminox several times in their previous battles, only for Torminox to always come back to life to menace Casey again. The knowledge that death is permanent in the real world causes her to hesitate in finishing off here, as the possibility of killing her father for good troubles her.
- Wham Shot: Torminox is working for the same person(credited as "The Artist) as Dr Janus, who in turn appears to work for Immortus.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Dorothy mentions Crystal Palace and the Dead Boy Detectives helped her get back Niles' amulet but no mention of their current whereabouts or why Dorothy didn't stay with them as she is now back living in Danny Land.
- The Worf Effect: The previously unstoppable Candlemaker gets hit with this big time against Torminox, who not only pulls a Punch Catch on him but shrinks him down to a cube with his powers.
