Tropes in this episode include:

  • A House Divided: The Yellow Team starts this way, with most of the contestants belonging to the team being at odds with each other.
Alec: To put it nicely... this team is a hot mess.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Fiore begs Alec to help her remain in the game, as she is aware that her entire team dislikes her and that she will be the first boot if the Magenta Team loses.
  • The Beastmaster: While it's well known by now that Gabby is an Animal Lover, turns out it also comes with this ability. Most notably, she is seen walking a lion through Cyan Team's gate during the challenge as if she was walking a dog, while other contestants struggled with much easier animals.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Jake gets jealous of Tom getting close to Aiden, which is later exploited by Alec when he uses it to spark an argument between Jake and James.
  • Manipulative Bastard: It's heavily implied that Alec manipulated Jake into having an argument with James just to take all the attention out of Fiore in case the Magenta Team lost (which indeed happened).
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: When Ashley mentions in a confessional that she and Jake have the perfect opportunity to get back at Fiore and eliminate her, she says that they would also be getting revenge for Will, Lill, and Nick too, despite Ashley admitting that she doesn't really care about the latter one.
Ashley: This is the perfect chance to get revenge on Fiore. For Will, Lill, and even Nick, who I don't care about but I'll stick him in there too.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: James tells his boyfriend Aiden the trick they used the previous night, to cover their tent in leaves so they don't get wet when it rains. This gets him called out by the rest of his team for helping the "enemy". Granted this isn't the reason they decide to vote James out later.
  • Revenge by Proxy: After thinking that Tom and Aiden were becoming too close to be Just Friends, and getting into an argument with James over it, Jake votes out James as revenge against Aiden, saying now he'll feel what it's like to lose someone you love.
  • Undying Loyalty: James is this to Aiden, even when they're on opposing teams. He gives him advice before the challenge on how to deal with the rain, and is offended when Jake implies that he might be cheating on him with Tom.
