The Guardian Ana Bray travels to Mars and discovers a Hive disturbance. In the polar caps the core of Rasputin, the last Warmind, is waking up and shedding the glacier. Long ago Rasputin had faced off against the Hive Worm God Xol and flash froze their location to keep them both in limbo, but now that both are awake they need to finish what they started.
Warmind contains examples of:
- All There in the Manual: The story itself is not especially clear about who Ana Bray is, but she was very prominent in previous lore and a famed gunslinger in various historical battles of the Last City.
- Blue-and-Orange Morality: Zavala is not happy about trying to use Rasputin, as he has been difficult to deal with since the collapse and tends to operate on his own terms.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: The Worm God Xol was sealed away by Rasputin in the ice, turning Rasputin into a Sealed Good in a Can.
