Undecided

Mars meets secretly with the FBI chief. Isabel slept over at Seth's and he agrees that she shouldn't help Aaron campaigning. Eli finds the virus that targets people with high melanocyte count doesn't kill, it just makes people sterile. Emily assists her mother's suicide, but regrets it and tries to have her resuscitated. Seth meets with the woman who bought his sperm all those years ago. Tom gives a speech in Houston, and has to tell Sasha they won't be as welcoming to her introducing him as Manhattan. Penny takes issue. Mars helps get Moss's biggest donor arrested for the bio-terror attack. Dontae discovers that Lorraine speaks covertly to Miles, Moss's "digital guy". He asks Emily to check if Lorraine has Pegasus software on her computer. Lorraine anonymously sends Tom a video clip of Moss decrying the population growth of people of color to a group of white men, which makes him look guilty.

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit:
    • Inverted with Stephanie. She did not expect to get a "yes" from any of the steps she took to find out if her Dad was her bio dad, whether her bio dad could be found, and whether her bio dad would answer her email.
    • Dontae assumes based on Lorraine's age that she will have her password written down in close proximity to her computer. He is right.
  • Central Theme: Second-guessing yourself.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: Emily can't believe that Seth would have dinner with, as she puts it, "the woman who bought his sperm 21 years ago", i.e. Stephanie's mother. Seth replies that it's nothing so weird; they're just having drinks.
  • Pun: Lorraine declares that she has to turn some of the red on the poll maps to gold (the Kirkman campaign color). Emily comments that Lorraine is like a reverse Midas.
  • Sterility Plague: Eli discovers that this is the point of The Plague.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Penny calling Tom out on pulling Sasha out of the campaign had no effect, but Moss complimenting him on doing that really hits home.
