The Revenge of the Chicken from Outer Space

Courage does battle with an old foe from the pilot episode, who (literally) wants Courage's head.

Journey to the Center of Nowhere

A drought causes Muriel's crop of eggplants to come to life and plot revolution.

"The Revenge of the Chicken from Outer Space" features examples of the following tropes:

  • Angry Item Tapping: When Courage goes to get Eustace out of bed to help him save Muriel from the alien chicken seeking revenge, he just ignores Courage and goes back to sleep. Courage, wearing a blank expression, taps Muriel's slipper in his hand, which is followed by some comical off-screen whacking sounds which result in Eustace chasing Courage to the desired destination.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The way Muriel is heard screaming after the Chicken captures her makes it sound like she's being raped.
  • Throat-Slitting Gesture: The Chicken threatens Courage by beaming down from his spaceship, points at the dog while holding a plunger, and does this gesture on what's left of his neck. It doubles as an early hint that his plan is to use the plunger to take off Courage's head and put it on himself.

"Journey to the Center of Nowhere" features examples of the following tropes:

  • Hostage-Handler Huddle: After Muriel gets captured by the eggplants, they decide to avenge every eggplant by eating Muriel. Their squabble starts when it comes down to the method of cooking her. Bobby Ganoush suggests that they grill her, while Ratatouille suggests that they fry her. They break into two groups, each screaming one of these two methods. Finally, a lone eggplant suggests that they bake her. Everyone agrees.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Courage tries to stop the sentient eggplants from attacking Muriel by talking them out of it while disguised as The Great Eggplant. His disguise is a very obvious eggplant costume, but it still works... until Bobby Ganoush notices the visible tag at the back.
