Realizing a potential connection between the two, the team investigate the cases of Skill Jones and Madison Reed, two teenagers from different backgrounds and different parts of the city, who were both murdered in 2002 at exactly the same time.
NOTE: The correct title of this episode is "8:03 AM."
Tropes:
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: Kat found Skill dying on the basketball court, and he succumbed to his wounds as she held him, begging him to hold on.
- Dirty Coward: Gibby, the drug dealer who sold drugs to Madison's mother. He may act smug whether selling drugs to desperate adults or believing the law cannot touch him. But when faced with the very real possibility that there's evidence he murdered someone, it doesn't take too long before he crumbles.
- Extracurricular Enthusiast: Madison was involved with student government and was on her school track team.
- I Never Said It Was Poison: Madison's killer knows Skill's gun was a Glock, despite no one mentioning it.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Even though she personally witnessed Skill being able to read an entire sentence in front of the entire class, the teacher still treated him as though all he was good for was dropping off drugs and such.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Toomey is shown to be very remorseful over killing Skill in blind anger.
- Never My Fault: The teacher says that Skill was never going to make it far in life, and had belittled his intelligence and potential when he was alive.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Skill selling his gun to Gibby while trying to get out of the drug game ends up doing more harm than good, given how it leaves him defenseless against Toomey and also gives Gibby a gun to shoot Madison with during their confrontation.
- That One Case: For Kat, who was undercover during a drug bust and had one of the victims die in her arms.
- Too Dumb to Live: Both Skill and Madison continue to deliver their "The Reason You Suck" Speech to agitated people aiming guns at them, costing them their lives.
