Tropes

  • Breather Episode: This is a lighthearted episode in between "Daniela" (a tragic romance) and "Who's Your Daddy" (a family massacred).
  • Embarrassing Nickname: A prison guard gets dubbed "Pretty Girl" by the inmates after Hank makes sure that they overhear him asking the prison nurse to tell him "You're pretty ... like a girl" during a tryst.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Johnny loves Bobbi, who is faithful to Hank. When she finally shut him down once and for all, he hijacks Hank's escape plan to kill him. Hank kills Johnny in self-defense.
  • I Will Wait for You: Bobbi was willing to wait for Hank to get out of jail come back to her.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Bobbi rejected Johnny and is willing to wait for Hank. Johnny tries to kill Hank because he decided if he couldn't have Bobbi, neither could Hank.
  • Mistaken for Badass: The Cold Case team discover that Hank has a "boss" who is going to bust him out. Boss turned out to be his nickname for his sweetheart Bobbi.
  • My Nayme Is: It's "Wendall", not "Wendell".
  • Prison Episode
  • Twist Ending: The dead body isn’t Hank. It's his friend, Johnny, whom he killed in self-defense after Johnny tried to kill him. The real Hank took another identity and got away with Bobbi. And since the statute of limitation ran out, he gets to live the rest of his life with her.
  • Wardens Are Evil: Warden Bryce Wilbur uses torture to interrogate prisoners, particularly Hank. He's not much different from his inspiration Samuel Norton.
  • You Have Waited Long Enough: Bobbi seems to have had moved on from Hank, married to another man. The twist is, the other man is Hank, who broke out and took on another identity after killing Johnny.
