All of Kadic Academy is buzzing: the drummer for the famous rock group, “The Subdigitals”—who just so happens to be the nephew of one of the faculty—is visiting the school. In fact, he is there to hold auditions as part of a promotional operation to discover young musical talent—the winner going on to play the opening set for the Subdigitals’s upcoming concert. Aelita, realizing her gifts as a DJ, would love a chance to audition, but she doesn’t count on Xana’s incessant intentions of kidnapping her…

This episode contains examples of:

  • Big Damn Heroes: As Ulrich is locked in combat with William, with a Manta attacking from overhead, Odd arrives just in time to assist.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: When Jim asks Chris about how the auditions went:
Chris: I'd rather not talk about it, uncle Jim.
  • Dreadful Musician: Sissi attends the audition but she is a terrible DJ. Chris also isn't impressed by Odd's track, but dialogue seems to imply that he downplays or even averts this trope: his song may simply not be what Chris was looking for.
  • History with Celebrity: The Subdigitals' drummer, Chris, turns out to be Jim's nephew.
  • Player-Guided Missile: Yumi is shown using her telekinesis to guide her fans and prevent William from blocking them.
  • Saved by the Platform Below: Twice. First, Aelita flies up into the air, but is then shot down by a Krabe, falling but managing to grab onto the side of the platform. Then, she falls again, but Jérémie materializes the Overwing below her to break her fall.
  • The Girl Who Fits This Slipper: A variant: Aelita hurries to the gymnasium to audition for Chris and the Subdigitals, but she narrowly misses him. Outside, Chris hears Aelita's music playing from inside, loves it, and runs back to see her, but he narrowly misses her. Later, When Aelita overhears that Chris is looking for the mystery DJ (her), she runs to look for him, but is attacked by XANA's polymorphic spectre, dropping her demo CD on the floor. Odd and Ulrich find Aelita's CD and give to Chris, causing him to look for Aelita, and it's not until a Return to the Past that things are set right. Milly Lampshades the homage, referring to the mystery DJ as Chris' Cinderella.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: William retreats once Aelita deactivates the tower and he faces the prospect of fighting both Odd and Ulrich.
