Nunnally sees her brother's face for the first time in eight years, the face of a killer which she, too, now bears, thanks to her launching the FLEIJAs. She proclaims she would never relinquish the FLEIJA key, even if Lelouch used Geass on her. Lelouch is left torn: using Geass on Nunnally was the absolute last thing he wanted...
As Kallen fights with Suzaku, and Jeremiah with Anya, Nunnally declares she would've been satisfied with life before Lelouch became Zero, and that Geass was a wicked power that bent people's wills. Lelouch shoots back that the Damocles was no different, to which Nunnally states the Damocles would be the target of humanity's hatred, so they could move on to the future. Realizing Nunnally had the same idea, Lelouch makes his decision...
Lelouch uses his Geass upon Nunnally, compelling her to give him the FLEIJA key. Nunnally resists Lelouch's Geass with every ounce of her being, but ultimately is forced to submit and offer the key to her brother...
Outside, Jeremiah corners the Mordred, and commands Anya to commit him to memory. When she laments that she has no memories, Jeremiah realizes that she is under a Geass's power and activates his Geass Canceler. Meanwhile, the brutal fight between Kallen and Suzaku reaches its climax: although she totals the Guren in the fight, she lands a fatal blow to the Lancelot. As Gino's damaged Tristan saves Kallen from falling into the ocean, the Lancelot Albion explodes with Suzaku aboard...
Lelouch, realizing that Nunnally had followed her own path, feels free to follow his own. While she is still under his Geass and unable to remember it, he thanks her and tells her he loves her before taking the FLEIJA key. Nunnally comes out of the Geass's control shortly afterwards. Realizing what Lelouch had done, she tries to chase after him as he walks away, but falls out of her wheelchair. Unable to stop him, she calls him a cowardly, despicable demon.
As Kaguya and her forces corner C.C., a FLEIJA explosion rings out, which can only mean one thing: Lelouch has taken over control of the FLEIJAs. With Schneizel now his slave, and Damocles's demonic superweapons in his possession, none can dare oppose him now: Lelouch vi Britannia has conquered the world!
Two months after completing his conquest, Lelouch has a parade in the streets of the Tokyo Settlement, along with his political enemies from the UFN and the Black Knights on their way to execution. Along the way, however, his motorcade is stopped by a familiar figure: Zero! The masked man charges at Lelouch and disarms him before taking out a sword.
Lelouch does naught but smile, for this is the fruit of his labor.
This is the Zero Requiem.
Within C's world, Lelouch and Suzaku learned of humanity's desire for a future. Hence, they created a plan to take over the Britannian Empire, and after that, the entire world. Once Lelouch became the most hated dictator in history, Suzaku would appear as Zero and slay him. With his death, the world can break the cycle of violence, war, and hatred that had plagued it.
Thus does Suzaku, as Zero, run Lelouch through with his sword.
Lelouch tells Suzaku that as punishment, he would sacrifice any hope for personal happiness and live on no more as Suzaku Kururugi, but as Zero. He would wear a mask forevermore and serve as a protector for mankind, a knight of justice. Suzaku tearfully accepts this "Geass", and pulls his sword from Lelouch, who falls down by Nunnally's side.
Nunnally touches Lelouch's hand and, through his warmth, realizes his true intentions. She forgive her brother and declares her love for him, as he whispers his final words:
"Yes...I destroyed...the world...and created it...anew..."
Thus, Lelouch vi Britannia, the man who gave birth to Zero and started a revolution, the 99th Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire, and the greatest villain the world would ever know, passes on in the arms of his sister Nunnally, her pained cries drowned out by people chanting Zero's name.
In the months that followed, the world had slowly recovered, resources once put towards warfare now directed to solving world hunger and rebuilding war-torn areas. Kallen now lives with her mother as Nunnally becomes the 100th Empress of Britannia, working alongside Ohgi and the leaders of the free world as a pregnant Villetta watches on, and Jeremiah and Anya start their own orange farm.
As the Damocles flies into the sun and is destroyed, along with the FLEIJAs that placed the world in peril, C.C. muses that even though she had said the power of Geass would isolate one's heart, that was not true of Lelouch.
