Rolo approaches Lelouch as he looks over Shirley's body, admitting to killing her because she had a gun, her memories were restored, and she was coming after him. Although Lelouch has his suspicions about the truth of Rolo's statement, he thanks him. He then makes his preparations to raid the Geass Order. He contacts C.C. on Horai Island and tells her of his plan to end the Geass Order, to kill Rolo and anyone else tied to Geass, so that he alone may wield its power and in doing so prevent another tragedy like Shirley's death.

Meanwhile, V.V. has Cornelia held captive in the Order's base. V.V. awaits a scheduled transmission from Jeremiah, but is contacted by Lelouch instead, who declares war on the Order. During their conversation, Lelouch manages to pinpoint the Order's location, and sends the Black Knights in to exterminate them. Some among the Black Knights are worried that the base they are attacking is not a Britannian research facility, and the researchers are putting up no resistance. Lelouch insists that all of the people in the base must die, the immortality test subjects captured, and the research destroyed.

Meanwhile, back in Area 11, Kallen has a heart-to-heart with Nunnally about their brothers. Their talks are interrupted by Suzaku, who interrogates Kallen, revealing to her that Shirley had died, apparently by suicide, but she was in fact murdered. According to Suzaku, the one responsible for her death is Lelouch. He is determined to get the truth, and will go to any extreme to get it out of Kallen: even using Refrain on her!

As the battle in the Geass Order intensifies, Lelouch plans to set off a bomb he had set inside the Vincent when Rolo finds V.V., as atonement for Shirley's death. Just then, the Siegfried reappears, now piloted by V.V., who fends off many of the Black Knights. Rolo tries to grab hold of the Siegfried, but V.V. shatters his morale by revealing to him the fact that every time he activates his Geass, his heart stops, making him a failed experiment, a reject. Before Lelouch can set off the Vincent's bomb, Cornelia appears, firing on the Siegfried with a Knightmare modified to use several guns. The Siegfried's shields destroyed, both Cornelia and Lelouch fire on V.V., grounding the Knight Giga-Fortress for good.

V.V. goes missing, but the Order has been destroyed. As the morale of the Black Knights drops as a result of the massacre they carried out, Lelouch spots V.V. Before he can capture him, however, he falls into a psychic trap like on Kamine Island. He suddenly finds himself at the Sword of Akasha, face to face with Emperor Charles zi Britannia!
