Recap / Code Geass: Paladins of Voltron, Chapter 11 "Confessions and Revelations"

Go To

As the Paladins prepare to head into space, Lelouch decides to reveal his secrets.

  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • This chapter is a wholly original one that takes place during the opening segments of Taking Flight from Legendary Defender.
    • We never really learn anything about Naoto beyond him being Kallen's dead brother and the former leader of Ohgi's resistance group in canon. Here, we find out that Naoto led the group in performing mostly non-violent acts of rebellion against Britannia (stealing medical supplies and giving them to Japanese in the ghettoes, for example), and that he was caught while allowing the rest of the group to escape with food from a nobleman's house. He was subjected to a Public Execution three days later.
  • Honor Before Reason: Downplayed - Suzaku may have issues with Lelouch and Kallen being members of the Black Knights, and with the former being Zero, but he is still willing to work with them. He pointedly tells Lelouch that there are lines he will not cross, though, which Lelouch understands.
  • Hypocrite: Suzaku calls out Lelouch on leading a rebellion as Zero. The Black Paladin promptly points out that by virtue of being the Purple Paladin, Suzaku is already rebelling against the Galra. Suzaku is unable to come up with a retort.
  • Internal Reveal: The Paladins, Allura, Coran, and the mice all learn that Lelouch is a former prince of Britannia and Zero, that Kallen is a member of The Black Knights (and what happened to her brother), and the nature of both C.C., Geass, and Shirley and Lelouch's Geasses in specific. Lelouch even uses the Castle's memory imagining devices to show the day he confronted Charles and was sent to be used alongside Nunnally as a bargaining chip with Japan.
  • Wham Episode: See Internal Reveal above for why this chapter completely changes the team's character dynamics.
