Recap / Chuck S 2 E 13 Chuck Vs The Suburbs

Go To

Chuck: Zip it, that is your wedding craziness right there. So keep that! That's yours. We're just house sitting, it's no big deal.
Ellie: Okay, fine. Can we call it "Cohabitating with your longterm girlfriend in a house that doesn't have posters that were hung in the 8th grade"?

A new mission has Chuck and Sarah posing as a married couple and interacting with some odd neighbours. The Buy More crew help Big Mike out after his wife files for divorce.

Trope Flash:

  • Dude in Distress: Chuck is captured by Fulcrum and forcibly uploaded with their Intersect. He's cuffed to a chair, his eyelids pried open and Intersect images are played that might kill him or make him crazy. He screams the whole time they're playing.
  • Fingore: When Chuck is Chained to a Bed, Casey advises him to break his thumb to slip the cuffs. Chuck finds the keys and escapes that way, but later Casey escapes Fulcrum captivity by the thumb-breaking method.
  • Foreshadowing: Ellie calls attention to Chuck's TRON poster. A later episode reveals he's assembled information about the Intersect on cards stuck to the back.
  • Honey Trap: Not long after moving into the suburbs, one of the neighbors starts aggressively hitting on Chuck. She let's slip that her husband is away on business often. Team Bartowski take this to mean that he's the Fulcrum agent. Chuck is told to pretend to be interested in having an affair with this woman in order to get inside their house and investigate. However, it turns out that the whole neighborhood is full of Fulcrum agents and that the woman was trying to seduce Chuck.
  • Madness Mantra: The CIA agent found in the beginning has had his brain completely fried by the Fulcrum Intersect, only able to say "salamander." This turns out to be the password to the computer containing the test program.
  • Oh, Crap!: Chuck, when the Fulcrum Intersect kicks in and he flashes on the entire neighbourhood, all of whom are Fulcrum agents.
  • Parental Sexuality Squick: Morgan and the other Buy More staff inadvertently set Big Mike up with Morgan's mother.
  • Stepford Suburbia: Chuck and Sarah are undercover as a married couple in a suburban cul-de-sac to find out which of their neighbours is a terrorist. In fact it's all of them, and they're Fulcrum operatives. They play the part of cookie-cutter suburbanites to the hilt.
  • Wham Episode: Fulcrum is making their own Intersect, and they're perilously close to completing it. Chuck now has Fulcrum programming in his brain.
