* ArtisticLicenseChemistry: the confrontation in Tuco's office was "busted" on an episode of Series/MythBusters, when the team attempted to replicate Walt's feat, but discovered: 1) mercury fulminate appears as a coarse, yellowish powder, not the crystalline substance that Tuco mistakes for methamphetamine; 2) 50g of mercury fulminate (the approximate weight of the nugget Walt throws to the floor) does not produce enough explosive force to blow out the walls or windows of a room; 3) while mercury fulminate is extremely unstable, a man cannot throw a 50g nugget onto a wooden floor with enough force to detonate it; and 4) an explosion powerful enough to blow out the walls and windows would have certainly killed Walt, and likely everyone else in the room as well(And that's before you get to the fact that, if Walt could detonate one of the chunks just by throwing it at the floor, the ensuing explosion should have produced enough force to detonate the rest of the mercury fulminate that Walt was holding). The show attempts to HandWave (1), (2) and (3) by saying Walt applied "a tweak of chemistry" to produce a "special" variety of mercury fulminate, but this fails to account for (4).

* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Hugo the NiceGuy janitor, who is liked by the faculty and students and treats Walt with respect and kindness even as he's going through the nauseous aftereffects of chemotherapy. He ends up arrested for the lab equipment that Walt stole, losing his job in the process; Walt feels bad about it, but not enough that he's unwilling to have Hugo take the fall for his crimes.

* NonFatalExplosions: Walt throws a chunk of fulminated mercury on the floor at his feet, causing an explosion big enough to shatter all the windows, knock down the air conditioning unit, fill the entire room with smoke, momentarily deafen everyone, and set off car alarms down the street. Walt is perfectly fine except for a bloody nose, when an explosion that strong should've blown him to bits.

* DumbassHasAPoint: MinionWithAnFInEvil Jesse point's out that selling the whole bulk of meth isn’t so simple, nor is finding a distributor that either they can trust, or who trusts them. He advises Walt against trying to go into business with Tuco. Given how Tuco assaults Jesse and steals his meth without pay, Jesse’s worries prove entirely correct.

* TookALevelInBadass: Walt's first 2 kills were done in fear and apology. In this episode, he blows up Tuco's headquarter with him at the epicenter, and threatens Tuco with an even bigger explosion, that the AxCrazy drug dealer actually caves. As added bonus, Jr. also calls his newly shaved head 'badass'.

Bald Of Awesome is being renamed and redefined per TRS decision

* BaldOfAwesome: The first time we see Walt without his hair, he's storming out of Tuco's blazing office with the deal money in hand. Said office is burning because Walt set off a mercury bomb partly to get Tuco to take him and Jesse seriously, and partly in revenge for Jesse's beating, counting it as this...
* BaldOfEvil: ...and this, as the attack and deal with Tuco is another step in the dark direction Walt's life is taking. This episode starts his iconic bald look for the rest of the series.

Hank meanwhile follows the gas mask lead back to the high school, where he shows his findings to Walt. Walt then shows him around the chemical equipment room, where Hank discovers that several items are missing. Fortunately for Walt, Hank's main suspect is a school janitor, Hugo Archuleta. But when Walt joins him for a poker game, he informs Walt that all he was able to pin on Hugo was carrying a small amount of marijuana, and he was very likely not the one who stole the equipment.
