Recap / Bravest Warriors S 01 E 12 Sugar Bellies

Go To

Sugarbellies is a "lost episode" from Bravest Warriors.

The Bravest Warriors find themselves speaking gibberish as they visit a system with three planets. Three inhabitants of one of the planets, the Sugarbellies, are also on board their ship. The Warriors each get a task on one of the three planets to complete: Danny has to find an outlet for a giant plug to power up the Crystal Planet; Wallow has to flip some switches to move the Mechanical Planet; leaving Chris and Beth to meet more of the Sugarbellies on the third planet, the Sugarbellies' homeworld, which looks a lot like Earth.

Danny manages to complete his task without much difficulty, and they use their ship to power up the Crystal Planet, causing it to glow.

Wallow is continually chased away by a trio of robot guard dogs in floating teacups. Danny's sticker pet, hearing their barking, uses the portals to go from the Crystal Planet to the Mechanical Planet. He manages to befriend them using typical dog tactics, and clears the way for Wallow. Having been given a crystal from the Sugarbellies, Wallow activates it with the light from the Crystal Planet. As the crystal grows into a giant humanoid shape, Wallow trips and falls into what turns out to be the control room for the crystal robot, which has a TV for a head showing Wallow's face. Controlling the robot, he flips the switches.

Chris and Beth meet with the Sugarbellies, and they ask Chris to paint symbols on their bellies. They seem to be sexist, though, and won't let Beth help out on account of being a girl. The Sugarbellies are placed into an organ, which Chris tries to play, the symbols being a guide for which keys to press. However, his musical ability is not up to the task.

Beth tries to take over, which causes the Sugarbellies to protest, but she manages to shout them down. As she plays, everything seems to be according to plan... but the final note is missing from the sheet music. Luckily, the Mechanical Planet rearranges itself, and with the light shining from the Crystal Planet, projects the final note onto the clouds.

Beth completes the melody, the Sugarbelly Planet realigns, and everyone gets their normal speaking abilities back. The Chief Sugarbelly apologizes to Beth for their rudeness earlier, and everyone reunites for a celebration: leaving Wallow on his own on the Mechanical Planet.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Pass the Popcorn: The three Sugarbellies on the ship make popcorn for themselves as soon as the Bravest Warriors are all down on the planets.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: The Sugarbellies.
  • The Unintelligible: Every character until the planets are realigned. Though, Danny was able to say "okay" normally two times during the episode.
