Remains of two witches (one from the original Salem Witch Trials and another from modern day) are discovered inside the charred remains of a secluded cabin. Hodgins and Angela end up arrested for speeding and use the time they are trapped in a cell together to reconnect, work the case,...and get married.
Tropes
- Artistic License – History: There were no witches in Salem, at most just a few folk beliefs. The entire event was a result of mass hysteria.
- Artistic License – Religion: Wiccans wouldn't set any store by a body from Salem since, as noted above, there were no witches in Salem and even if there had been they would have had basically nothing to do with Wicca. Wicca is a relatively new religion loosely based on pre Christian beliefs while "witchcraft" as defined by the authorities in Salem was essentially devil worship.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The sheriff who puts Hodgins and Angela in jail after they mess around with their Prius' auto-driving feature showers them with confetti when they get married in the cell. Awww.
- Nude Nature Dance: When a self-proclaimed witch is found dead, Brennan and Booth decide to check out a local group of Wiccans. They show up at a ceremony in the woods just as the (all-female) group begins to disrobe and start dancing.
- Official Couple: The series finally resolves the Angela/Hodgins plotline. While their relationship will not be without it's difficulties they remain together for the rest of the series.
- Product Placement: The Prius, when Hodgins swerves and the Prius beeps at him, prompting Angela to say "Look! The Prius helps you stay in your lane!"
- Unusually, this has a lasting effect, as Hodgins and Angela end up in jail after being arrested for erratic driving, and they both have bench warrants. The two reconnect and get married while still in jail.
- Trailers Always Lie and/or Trailers Always Spoil: A trailer spoiled that Hodgins and Angela kiss while being trapped in jail. It didn't let on that they then got married when the judge showed up to free them.
- The Unreveal: It'll be quite some time before we learn Angela's real name.
- Wedding Episode: Hodgins and Angela finally get married...in a jail cell, no less!
