The Reverend Darnell Potter, the NYPD's harshest critic, must swallow his pride when his son is killed. Meanwhile, Erin and Anthony investigate a crash of a prisoner transport.
- Big "NO!": Mrs. Potter falls into her husband's arms and does this at the crime scene of their son's death.
- Continuity Nod: To the season 1 arc, that Joe was killed by a crooked cop.
- Drives Like Crazy: The private prisoner transporter violated just about every single traffic law just because the prisoner was having a medical emergency.
- Enemy Mine: Potter and the NYPD must join forces to bring the latter's son to justice. It takes a while for the two parties to get along.
- Hypocrite: Potter has rightfully called out cases of Police Brutality and rule-breaking, but wants Danny to do those things while investigating his son's death.
- Internal Reveal: Frank reveals to Potter that his son was killed by a Dirty Cop.
- Irony: The gang leader who orchestrated the gang initiation was a member of Potter's outreach program. Frank and Potter lampshade it.
- Miranda Rights: Eddie's about to read them until the druggie stops her:
- Perp: I know. My dad's a cop.
- Papa Wolf: When his son is killed, Reverend Potter is on the warpath to bring his son's killer to justice.
- Small-Town Tyrant: The prison bus driver Rick Wolf Jr. is guilty of abusing the prisoners he transports in various and horrific ways, such as starving them for thousands of miles, not allowing them to use the bathroom, denying them medical treatment, making them suffer bumpy rides that usually ends in someone getting screen-checked, and encouraging them to beat on each other. At least half a dozen prisoners under his care are discovered to have died from this, and Wolf's father, who owns the company down in the southern states, had been looking the other way the whole time it was happening. Needless to say, none of it has made the father-son duo very popular amongst those who know them, and it gets both of them arrested after the NYPD find out about it.
