That was in the Deicide arc.

* HesBack: Ichigo spends the entire Arrancar Arc struggling with his fear of his [[SuperpoweredEvilSide inner Hollow]], falling into despair after he obliterates Ulquiorra and almost kills Uryuu. Gin tells him to run away as he's no longer in any state to fight Aizen. However, Isshin encourages Ichigo to train one last time, which allows Ichigo to confront and reconcile with his inner spirits. Upon returning to the battlefield, Gin acknowledges Ichigo has regained his fighting resolve, which Ichigo then proves.

Downer Ending is applied to the end of the story itself. The story hasn\'t ended yet. It\'s not an arc trope. Also, Kubo\'s Arrancar Arc runs from the end of Soul Society to end the Deicide, so claiming the \'arc\' ends at this point is fanon anyway.

* DownerEnding: During the third attack on Karakura Town, Orihime is kidnapped by Ulquiorra and taken to Hueco Mundo. Yamamoto deems her a traitor and refuses to send a team to rescue her, forcing Ichigo, Chad and Ishida to attempt the rescue alone.

Uh...HOW? It\'s describing what happened in the arc. I don\'t think that\'s misuse.

With Rukia saved despite Aizen revealing his treacherous nature and having gotten away. Ichigo returns back to his old life while being instated as an official Substitute Shinigami. After several months of relative peace with the odd Hollow attack. Ichigo is approached by a man named Shinji who reveals he too has both Shinigami and Hollow powers. His appearance soon coincides with the coming of the Arrancar, human looking Hollows who wield shinigami like powers, who have taken an interest in Ichigo's hometown and Ichigo himself.
