Recap / Big Finish Doctor Who NEDAS Dark Eyes 4 E 2 The Monster Of Montmartre

Go To

Searching for the Tardis, Liv and the Doctor travel to Paris in 1921, where a monster is stalking the streets. Along the way, they run afoul of artists, criminal dealers of stolen goods, and the hidden dangers of the Red Pagoda...

The Monster of Montmartre provides examples of:

  • Call-Forward: The Time Controller states he shall create a "New Dalek Paradigm", which the Daleks eventually do in "Victory of the Daleks".
  • Continuity Nod: The Doctor mentions he'd been to Montmartre before, with Lucy during World War II.
  • Shout-Out: The general setting and theme of the work is inspired by Moulin Rouge!, with the b-plot featuring a struggling artist in love.
    • The title, Monster of Montmartre, is shared by a serial criminal in real life who would later be active in Paris.
    • When the Doctor meets the Dalek Time Controller, who he thought might be dead, he paraphrases a famous quote and says "when good Daleks die, they go to Paris."
