Tropes:
- A Day in the Limelight: A first for Anderson.
- Captain Obvious: Anderson feels the need to lecture his sergeant on how salt water causes metal to rust.Anderson: See, the paint acts as a seal to keep out the salt water because when salt and water get together, that's what I call a recipe for rust.
- Comically Missing the Point: One of the other soldiers tries to warn Anderson about the dangers of battle, while Anderson is concerned about the rust on the ship caused by the saltwater.
- Out of Focus: As it's a short segment, Beavis and Butt-Head don't appear, nor are they mentioned.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: The rusty boat Anderson had repainted was destroyed three months later.
- Skewed Priorities: Anderson was more concerned about a spot of rust on his boat than about the battle he was leading his platoon to, the beach he was supposed to storm, and the machine gun nest pinning his comrades down. It's so bad that he turns the boat around to get it repainted mid-battle, which allows it to last three more months before it was sunk and everyone onboard it was killed.
