A two-parter. Chloe, a little girl who's recently lost her parents has run away from her foster family. Nightwing helps her confront her demons and manages to conquer a few of his own.
Tropes:
- Commonality Connection: Nightwing connects with the little girl over the fact that they both lost their parents. It's noted that, originally, Bruce and Dick connected the same way.
- Cooldown Hug: Nightwing hugs Chloe as she sobs over missing her parents.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Bruce's and Dick's are explored, with Bruce remembering how he had no one but Alfred to depend on after the death of his parents, which is why he was so quick to take in Dick and help him when his parents died.
- Parental Substitute: At the end of the episode, Dick thanks Bruce for being this for him, both during the darkest time in his life and for every day after.
- Self-Deprecation: Bruce half-jokingly admits that dressing up as a bat isn't exactly seen as a healthy coping mechanism.
