• Class Pet: The kids use Zippity the hamster to represent the letter Z.
• Early-Bird Cameo: Jason makes his first appearance in this episode, but doesn't become a regular until Season 3.
• Inspirationally Disadvantaged: Averted. Jason's hearing aid is not discussed. While he teaches the others the alphabet and how to say "I Love You" in American sign language, he is treated no different than the other kids.
