It has been two months since the death of the King of Worms and Christmas time is in the air. Whilst Linkara is wrapping up his review of The Hobbit #2 Linksano is tolling away at a project which he was told to finish before Christmas. Whilst Linksano bemoans the fact that he is being forced to work on a project that he has already done before a mysteries woman arrives and points a Magic Gun to his head. She has been tracking a dimensional anomaly and she has one question for Linksano; "Where is Jaeris?"
After concluding The Hobbit #3 review Linkara calls Jaeris to the apartment and tells him about the woman. Jaeris theorises that the woman may be one of the many people whose Magic Guns he stole during his travels and says that they should prepare for her next strike. Linkara though has an alternative plan; to beam the woman back into the apartment and ambush her if she doesn't accept Jaeris' apology. Taking a break from talk of another fight Linkara invites Jaeris over for Christmas and tells him that after everything they've had to endure they all deserve some Christmas cheer.
After the end of the Santa the Barbarian #1 review Linkara, Pollo in his combat form, and Jaeris all take positions at the apartment ready to beam the mysterious woman back in. The woman is beamed in and a stand off seems to ensue between Linkara and her before Jaeris says in shock "Joanna?" Jaeris and Joanna look at each other in shock before kissing each other. After some confusion Jaeris explains that Joanna is his wife and she explains that she has arrived to bring her husband back to their home dimension since in his absence the corrupt government on their earth has been overthrown.
Linkara and Jaeris sit down and talk about what Joanna's arrival means for Jaeris. While Jaeris admits that he can't stay in his home dimension without dying he intends to return the various Magic Guns he stole to their rightful owners as Christmas presents now that he no longer needs them. However this is when Linkara reveals the Christmas present he had Linksano built for him; a new anchor to re-acclimate Jaeris to his home dimension. Jaeris, to choked up to say anything, gives Linkara a hug and notes that he intends to stay for Christmas eve before he and Joanna return home. After a thanks, and a light hearted "up yours", Jaeris beams back to his ship signifying the end of the characters run on the show.
Two months after Jaeris left to return to his home universe Linkara is working on giving Pollo a more human sounding voice, due to his jeolusy of Sierra's humanoid voice. After cycling through a few options Pollo eventually settles on a snarky British voice and, with that out of the way, Linkara begins his review of ROMtrospective: ROM Spaceknight #1-40.
Tropes:
- Breather Episode: After the dark and disturbing "Machinations of Worms" arc, this is a lighthearted story of Jaeris finally being reunited with his wife and being allowed to go home.
- Christmas Episode: The arc takes place almost entirely at Christmas and celebrating the holiday cheer with loved ones is actually one of the main points of the arc.
- Christmas Miracle: Twofold for Jaeris as not only does he get to see his wife (who informs him that the war on his planet is over) but Linkara is able to create a new anchor for him so that he can return home.
- Oh, Crap, There Are Fanfics of Us!: Jaeris hugs Linkara after discovering the latter has built him a device to re-acclimate him to his home universe. Linkara comments that people are going to write fanfic about this moment while awkwardly reciprocating.
- Put on a Bus: Jaeris is finally able to return home and bids adieu to Linkara and the show.
- Real Life Writes the Plot: Pretty much this story arcs existence in a nutshell. Will, Jaeris' actor, got a job offer in another state and had to leave so Jaeris had to be written out of the show. Thankfully it was in an ultimately heart warming way.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: As Linkara lampshades turns out stealing all of the Magic Guns was a waste of time for Jaeris as the people from his planet were able to overthrow the dictatorship themselves. Jaeris though is to happy about seeing his wife again to care about that.
