Chapter 8
Looker drives to the airport, reflecting on how little action he'd seen as part of the Ultra Beast Task Force he'd been part of since he joined the International Police—having signed up because of said inaction just for better attention from the highers-up—but well aware of the gravity of the threat from one event two years prior when they subdued a UB-01: Symbiont [Nihilego] that had attacked a young woman, who joined the task force afterward. Looker meets the same young woman, Frontier Brain Anabel, at the plane, where they exchange words of mutual loathing before setting off for Alola, unaware of Ash's involvement.
Charizard and many of Ash's other Pokémon are on edge after the sudden attack, aware that it could happen again at any time, but taking solace in the fact that they know that they can defeat the attackers. Ash himself finishes bandaging up Garchomp with Lillie's help and focuses on Xerneas's gift, knowing he can't raise six eggs himself. Calling all of his Pokémon together, Ash asks for four volunteers to raise one egg each, taking two eggs for himself. Pikachu, Meganium, Charizard, and Bulbasaur each take one egg, and with that, Ash turns his attention back to the Mews' gifts, all thoughts of the earlier attack on the back burner.
Meanwhile, 38 million light years away, a massive army of beasts assembles in light of the Buzzwoles' defeat, planning to go after "the great defender" once more, to take revenge for how they once were wronged.
