Former boxing star Kanda Eiji goes looking for work at the Antique Bakery. One night, another boxer named Toru sees Eiji working at the bakery and is disgusted by his choice in replacing boxing with baking.


  • The Apprentice: Eiji becomes Ono's apprentice after tasting some of his pastries.
  • The Determinator: Both Toru and Eiji refuse to let boxing go, even though both were forced to stay out of the ring.
  • Does Not Like Women: Ono tells Keiichiro that he feels uncomfortable around women. Keiichiro, who originally wanted to hire a female worker, is forced to comply by Ono's demands.
  • Foreshadowing: Ono starts talking about a guy he followed to Paris, which led to him becoming interested in baking.
  • Gratuitous French: Ono and Keiichiro speak a little French while showing off the shop's menu.
  • Hero Worship: Eiji becomes hooked on Ono's pastries and seeks apprenticeship under him. He even calls him a god for how well he made them.
    • Toru admired Eiji as a boxing idol. He was disappointed to see him working at a cake shop.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Toru is a little rough around the edges, but he really loves his girlfriend and their unborn child.
  • Perma-Stubble: Keiichiro grows a little beard and goatee in this episode. This becomes his new permanent look.
  • Wham Line: The line Namiko says if Toru won't give up boxing.
    "Then I guess I shouldn't have the baby."
