Recap / Andromeda S1E22 "Its Hour Come Round at Last"

Go To

During a routine repair, Harper accidentally triggers an older version of Andromeda's AI. Viewing the crew as intruders, the ship sets out on a classified mission that brings them face to face with the ultimate enemy: the Magog.

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: Harper unwittingly sets this up when he activates the older AI, as it takes control of the ship and regards the entire crew as intruders, even unable to recognise Rommie as herself.
  • Bash Brothers: As they're arming themselves, Dylan asks Beka if she regrets joining his cause. Her response?
"And risking my life? Battling Nietzscheans and Restors and Magog and half the lunatics in the galaxy? All for a cause that's been dead for over three hundred years. I wouldn't have missed it for the world."
  • Call-Back: Remember those point singularity weapons Jeger used? We see what a planet-sized projector can do...
  • Cliffhanger: Dylan, Beka, and Trance are unconscious, Harper and Tyr are captured, Rev Bem is apparently renouncing his faith, Rommie is impaled, and Andromeda has been blasted by point singularity weapons.
  • The Dreaded: The Magog are introduced in force, and we see just why they're the most feared species in the universe. Even Tyr is terrified at the prospect of fighting them for the first time.
  • Face Your Fears: Harper is scared shitless when the Magog attack, but Tyr gets him to fix the AI.
  • God Help Us All: Rev Bem when he realizes who's boarding the ship.
    "May the Divine help us."
  • Mercy Kill: Subverted. Cornered and with only one round left, Tyr offers to shoot Harper to spare him whatever fate awaits him from the Magog. He initially accepts, but then says that maybe they can take them off, so they go down fighting.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Harper manages to shut down the automated internal defenses, literally thirty seconds before the Magog show up.
  • Oh, Crap!: The episode is one chain of these, each one worse than the last.
  • Planet Spaceship: The episode concludes with the arrival of Andromeda at the Magog World Ship.
  • Verbal Backspace: Dylan tries to unlock the classified files by using his captain's access codes, but realizes the AI is a version that existed before his promotion to captain. He stops mid-sentence and uses his codes from when he was a lieutenant commander in special operations.
