Greg is able to take advantage of a connection he has with Angela's ex-wife Celeste, an editor, to get a publishing deal for his book idea, but when he and Katie go out on the town with her to celebrate Angela is understandably displeased at her friend choosing to socialize with her ex. Meanwhile, Katie got so drunk at the party that the kids decide to try and con her into buying them a trampoline as she had "promised" the night before, but Anna-Kat decides to go for broke and asks for a pony instead. Greg, meanwhile, in his drunken stupor lost the napkin on which he had written the perfect opening statement for his book.
Tiffani Thiessen makes her only appearance as Angela's much-storied ex, Celeste.
Tropes:
- A Day in the Limelight: Angela, who is betrayed by Katie and severs their friendship, until Katie tracks her down at the retreat she is attending to plead for her forgiveness.
- Chekhov's Gun: At Second Breakfast, Angela mentions that she plans to go on a retreat and Celeste will be watching the kids all week. When Angela doesn't answer the phone, Greg points out that she has gone on her retreat, which he knows about because Celeste told them that she would be having the kids all week. Katie laments not being a better listener.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: Greg (and later Katie) socializing with Celeste is treated by all parties as akin to an infidelity.
- Noodle Incident: Katie getting into a fight with the proprietor of the froyo place over the definition of "unlimited toppings". It got ugly enough that she boycotted the place and strong-armed Doris and Angela into no longer going there either. (And Doris was just one punch away from a freebie!)
- Sound-Effect Bleep: When Angela calls Greg a "boy scout", Doris cusses her out and insists Greg is a *bleep* Eagle Scout.
- Special Guest: Tiffani Thiessen as Celeste.
- The Unreveal: We never learn what the "perfect opening statement" was.
