Chapter 18: Seeing Stars
Lincoln accompanies Octavia to Los Angeles to see a meteor shower, a mysterious demonic crow who has its eyes on Lincoln tags along for the ride.
Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:
- Adapted Out: The plotline involving Blitzo being mistaken for actor Brennon Ragers and taking his place is skipped over in favor of focusing on Lincoln and Octavia's search for the meteor shower (although the ending hints that the events of said plotline still happened).
- Crossover Cameo:
- Lincoln and Octavia visit Thai Go Restaurant to eat and they meet Mrs. Boonchuy from Amphibia.
- Another happens when looking for Lincoln and Octavia, Loona runs into Dan from Dan Vs., who promptly declares revenge on her after she knocks him aside and destroys a car window.
- For Want Of A Nail: With Lincoln missing as well, Blitz decides to split the group up differently than in canon, having Loona go with Moxxie and Millie rather than him and Stolas. Also, while Moxxie does get initially distracted by LA's street vendors as he does in canon, Millie's harsh rebuke and his own parental instincts towards Lincoln snap him out of it. With Loona tagging along, it also allows her to see Lincoln's "parents" do what they can to get him back safely, adding an extra layer of realization about Bltzo's own undying devotion as her adoptive father.
- In Spite of a Nail: Even with M & M as a more active part of the search and her accompanying them, Loona still ends up separated from the group and finds Octavia (and Lincoln) first. The narrative at the end also implies that Blitzo's own emotional roller coaster, i.e. reliving the day he adopted Loona from the hellhound orphanage during his acting "stint" as Brennon Ragers, went down as it did in canon.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The fact that Blitzo didn't immediately shrug off Loona causing a client to up and leave the I.M.P. office thanks to her Brutal Honesty, and was just as visibly frustrated as Moxxie and Millie shows that even Blitzo's devotion to Loona and his willful ignorance of her bad work tendecies has a limit. The reveal that it's apparently the tenth time she's driven a potential client away as such is what drives Blitzo to finally have "the Talk" with her.
- The Reveal/Noodle Incident: Dan from Dan Vs. is apparently the reason most of Los Angeles' water is replaced by acid in this universe.
