Chapter 17: Teacher

Stolas confides in Lincoln about his past when his student comes by for his well-being after what happened at Ozzie's.

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

Oh, Crap!: Lincoln says, "Oh Crumbs!" when Stella shows up at Stolas's palace.
Pragmatic Adaptation: The first non-original chapter in the story to completely overhaul a canon plotline; "The Circus" was mostly a Whole Episode Flashback, focusing on Stolas during his childhood and how he came to meet Blitz and Stella. "Teacher", however, focuses on Lincoln checking up on Stolas in the aftermath of "OZZIE's", in which Stolas finally breaks down and confesses his dismay with his marriage to Stella, with his backstory being explained instead. This was done to accommodate the fact that, had the chapter gone with the flashback route, then Lincoln would've been absent and thus just be a novelization of the original episode.
Suspiciously Specific Denial: Lampshaded when Lincoln points out how Stolas' attempts to assure the boy that he's doing well sound incredibly forced.
Stolas: What are you insinuating? That every morning upon my awakening, I look in a mirror and recite it all in an effort to keep myself from snapping under the pressure of the impossible standards everyone around me expects me to live up to, even though I can hardly do that?
Lincoln: ...I ... I don't know... that was very specific.
