"Nothing appears more ancient, and linked to the immemorial past, than the pageantry which surrounds British monarchy in its public ceremonial manifestations. Yet,...in its modern form it is the product of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. 'Traditions' which appear or claim to be old are often quite recent in origin and sometimes invented."
The Invention of Tradition, by Eric Hobsbawm

"Nature is not about preserving old things, but about creating new ones. New life. New ideas."

"The world worships a certain kind of newness. People are always talking about a new car, or a new drink or p-p-play or house, but these things are not truly new, are they? They begin to get old the minute you acquire them. New is not in things. New is within us. The truly new is something that is new forever: you. Every morning of your life and every evening, every moment is new. You have never lived this moment before and you never will again. In this sense the new is also the eternal."

"Life is without precedent"

Far from being a common phrase that was then borrowed as the title of the movie, as I had very strongly assumed, the phrase ["bucket list"] was actually originally coined by the screenwriter, Justin Zackham, who says he had kept a list like that for himself that he called "List of Things to do Before I Kick the Bucket," eventually shortened to "Justin’s Bucket List." [...] This extremely well-documented Reddit comment in a discussion on the topic in /r/etymology does a great job of demonstrating that the phrase was either invented for the movie or was almost unknown at the time it was released, because there are lots of earlier references to the concept but none actually use the phrase (they usually call it a "life list").
