In his own mind, the Stranger is defined less by what he is, and more by what he is not. For starters, he is not complete. When he looks in the mirror, he does not recognize the person staring back. He begins a quest for the formula, finding glances of the true self on the faces of others. He stakes his territory with a knife and a gun, seeking revelation in the fear and blood of his victims, trying to find that which will make him complete.
