* PerfectionIsStatic:
** When the mortal world was being created, Morning Star, the Alicorn of Perfection and Beauty, was so obsessed with making it beautiful and perfect, he grew to hate everything that didn't fit into his vision. He hated the Draconequi for being personifications of chaos, mortals for being flawed and making mistakes, and his own siblings because their ideas for creation clashed with his. His idea of a perfect world had no conflict, violence, or natural disasters, populated by gold and silver ponies who never changed from birth to death and made nothing but the most beautiful works of art. But because his siblings and parents did not agree that the world should be that way, he started hating them more and more, and eventually turned his back on them and fell to evil.
** In Dark World, the Valeyard dismisses the idea of true perfection and calls it "frozen in a state of being, unable to adapt." He proclaims himself "perfectly flawed" instead, which almost makes Twilight have an aneurysm from the LogicBomb.
--->'''Twilight''': ?! ... That's not perfection! A truly Perfect Being would either be able to adapt instantly to any situation or not need to!
--->'''Valeyard''': Please. Perfectionism's right up there with "logicality"; oversized weaknesses I don't chain myself down with. Logic is just being able to be wrong with authority. That's why the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buridan%27s_ass perfectly logical donkey]] always starves to death when faced with two equal sets of hay.
--->'''Twilight''': THAT'S NOT LOGIC! The logical thing to do is PICK ONE because starving to death with food right in front of you's the most illogical thing EVER!

* IntoxicatedSuperpowerSnag: Twilight normally has no problem with this... except if she [[CantHoldHisLiquor gets drunk]]. [[NoodleIncident Last time she did]], she lost control of her powers and Ponyville had to be reassured that Discord hadn't returned.

* MainCharacterFinalBoss: Downplayed. Nightmare Eclipse is the final boss of the Dark World arc. She is a [[spoiler:future version of Twilight, a corrupted alicorn who has learned time magic and is using it to keep the Dark World timeline in a 1,000-year GroundhogDayLoop to punish Discord -the former BigBad- for all eternity. Every time the current Twilight and her friends have defeated Discord, Nightmare Eclipse finds some way to corrupt that Twilight into another Nightmare Eclipse, absorbs her to increase her own power, and then begins the loop again with new versions of Twilight and her friends. After defeating her and finally breaking the loop, Twilight fuses with her to become a fully ascended alicorn: Princess Amicitia.]]

* MayItNeverHappenAgain: Nightmare Eclipse, the BigBad of the Dark World arc, has been keeping the timeline in an endless 1,000-year GroundhogDayLoop to punish Discord for all eternity. After she is defeated and the loop is finally broken, one iteration of Rainbow Dash -- specifically the one Eclipse brainwashed into Nightmare Manacle -- ascends to alicornhood and becomes Princess Fidelitas, the Goddess of Breaking Loops and Cycles, with the power to stop any being like Eclipse from ever coming into existence again.
